PostHeaderIcon Information About Getting Anxiety Depression

A lot of people who are exerting too much of their brain power usually exhaust not only their physical strength when engaging in various multi-tasking activities, they also tend to over extend their brains up to the point when it plainly needs some good old time for relaxation. A lot of busy people who seem to cannot fathom the idea of relaxing and taking time of from work, as well as their worries, tend to actually start having nervous breakdowns, anxiety depression and all sorts of mental illnesses that can cause a person’s sanity to go haywire, fortunately, if you’re one of those poor unfortunate ones who are unable to distress and is constantly worried and fussing over things, there are actually available cures and various treatments for treating anxiety depression.

Anxiety depression is actually characterized by all sorts of irregularities and erratic behavior from the person who is suffering from it, this is usuallu due to certain stress triggers that may tend to easily cause a person undue jitters and stress. Also, a lot of people who tend to get easily nervous over stressful activities are actually prone to having anxiety depression, its just a matter of being strong-willed when it comes to facing difficult and stress-prone activities. It may be pretty hard to overcome at first, but trying to be calm and cool in times of extreme pressure is what’ll actually save your mental health from going totally downward spiral.

When it comes to effectively curing one’s self from a mental illness, one must keep in mind that you have to be actually honest with yourself and assess what kind of depression or mental illness you actually have, go to reputable psychiatrist to get yourself diagnosed correctly as well as be able to get the right depression treatment for yourself. Here are the various types of depression:

Manic or Bipolar depression - characterized by sudden and extreme changes in one’s mood wherein one minute he or she is in an elevated state of euphoria while the next minute (day or week) he or she is feeling to be in a personal hell.

Postpartum depression - characterized by a prolonged sadness and a feeling of emptiness by a new mother wherein physical stress during child birth, an uncertain sense of responsibility towards the new born baby can be just some of the possible factors why some new mother go through this.

Dysthimia - characterized by a slight similarity with depression, although this time, it’s been proven to be a lot less severe, but of course with any case, should be treated immediately.

Cyclothemia - characterized by a slight similarity with Manic or Bipolar depression wherein the individual suffering from this mental illness may occasionally suffer from severe changes in one’s moods.

Seasonal Affective Disorder - characterized by falling in a rut only during specific seasons (i.e. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall) studies however, prove that more people actually fall in to a rut more during the Winter and Fall seasons and lastly, Mood swings, wherein a person’s mood may shift from happy to sad to angry in just a short time.

But the type of depression that has actually been proven to be quite common among people is anxiety depression, which is actually characterized by the state of being overly anxious about things. Anxiety, a supposedly normal behavior that’ll actually help a person adjust more to a certain stressful activity like first date jitters or a grueling exam the following day. Anxiety actually helps you get psyched up towards facing certain “difficult situations”; anxiety therefore is actually a good thing. Anxiety depression however, is simply the opposite, not to be easily dismissed as a “case of the nerves”; Anxiety depression is in actuality an illness that can be caused from the biological makeup of an individual, or in other words, a hereditary illness.

Also, there are actually various types of Anxiety depression, each having its own unique characteristics. Take for example Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD, this kind of Anxiety depression is a lot more complicated than the average Anxiety depression, in spite of possibly being a day-to-day habit for those who suffer this kind of Anxiety depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder actually makes the individual quite more paranoid than usual, anxiety attacks are more frequent, even absurd at times. They can even be anxious even when there’s no apparent reason that calls for them to behave in such a way. People suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder actually shows a lot of symptoms, from lack of sleep, to being unable to relax, getting tired easily, cannot concentrate on what they’re doing and even suffering from depression. This kind of Anxiety depression is still curable; just a little work will actually do the trick.

Consult a reputable cognitive behavior therapist who’ll help give the individual the therapy that he or she needs to help him or her loosen up, also prescribed medicines are sort of a must to help these individuals battle anxiety attacks, help them calm down and relax.

PostHeaderIcon Entrepreneurs: Overwhelmed? Need Help?

As an entrepreneur, you are bound to get overwhelmed with all the tasks you want to accomplish in a given day.  Where do you start?  What is the most important thing to get done?

There are many great techniques out there for time management, goal setting and organization, but I want to concentrate on two.  I have found that if you try to learn several new techniques at once, you end up getting nothing done at all — it adds to your overwhelm instead of solving it.  So two is a nice, small number.  It’s more than one, but not enough to overwhelm you.

Strategy One:  A big contributor to overwhelm is clutter.  Take a look at your desk and work area.  You should have one (yes, one) primary project on your desk at any given time.  Clear everything else off.  Put in on a shelf, in the other room. How many projects (aka “piles”) are sitting there waiting for attention?  One?  Two?  Six?  More?  When I first started using this technique I had, literally, eight projects/piles covering my desk.  There wasn’t even any workspace, so I was working on top of one of the projects/piles.  Crazy.  When I got it cleaned off (it took a full morning), I breathed a sigh of relief and I felt in control for the first time in a long time.

Now, I have one primary project and a handful of small folders representing about four projects I could work on during the day.  That is all that stays on my desk.  Everything is put away.  I can see the panic rising in your eyes — you are thinking that if you put things away, you may never get to them or you may forget about them!  Oh no!  Move on to Strategy Two and you will see that if you implement Strategy Two, you will actually be completing tasks routinely, and you will be forced to go look for those other tasks you set aside, just to have something to do.

Strategy Two:  Plan your day the night before.  Let me repeat that.  “The night BEFORE.”  Maybe you are one of those folks who gets to your desk in the morning and you start making your “to-do” list for the day.  Or, alternatively, maybe you just hit the ground running with no plan at all.  Either way, you are wasting precious productive time you could be spending on your primary project.

Instead, take ten minutes the night before and focus on what you want to accomplish the next day.  Key on one primary project you want to complete.  Visualize yourself starting on that project first thing in the morning and working on it, without interruption for two- to two-and-a-half hours.  No interruptions.  The phone can wait.  The dog can wait.  Even your children can wait for a little while, right?  If you do that each day, you will complete projects in record time and your productivity will skyrocket.

One question I get is, “how do I decide which project is primary?”  A quick question you can ask yourself to make the decision easy is “What will happen if I don’t get project A, B, C or D done?”  When you identify which one will cause the most pain if incomplete, you’ve found your primary project.  Put it on your desk and get going.

These two simple strategies, when implemented (remember, you have to actually take action), will improve your productivity, reduce your overwhelm and relieve a great deal of stress.

PostHeaderIcon i got injured on my knee from an awkward tackle while playing soccer to my lateral collateral and ACL.?

Hi all!
This is in fact my 1st time using this yahoo answers and i hope i can get some helpful answers. on the 15th of march i had a soccer game and got injured on my knee. it was more like my opponent put all his weight on the inside of my knee/upper leg while it was planted into the ground, this then caused the the ligaments on the outside of my knee to give way because of the pressure. the pain was unbearable for someone like me who has played soccer all his life and been hurt before. i did not however hear any popping sounds. i live in kenya and have played in the division one league since the beginning of the year and hoped to go pro seeing as am only 18,by far the youngest and most promising player that my club has. i went to the hospital that evening, with no ice or anything applied. the hospitals in kenya are far from good. i was given crutches and some gel to rub on my knee. nothing more. i then later that week under went x-ray which didn’t show much but a slight fracture on the inside of my knee. about a week after my injury, still nothing but some gel,no ice or elevation as i was not advised to do so, i went and saw yet another doctor after getting my MRI done. he said that the results showed that there was a partial tear in my LCL(lateral collateral ligament) and so too with the ACL(anterior cruciate ligament) two days later i underwent arsoscopy surgery whereby the surgeon cut the partially torn bits of the ligament(30%) and left the rest(70%).he then said the ACL was not in as bad a shape as he had thought, and so he left it be. i wonder and would be thankful for any feedback as to whether that 70% of my LCL left can heal itself and be strong enough to support my soccer in the future at hopefully the highest level. the doctor seems to think so. my muscles also shrunk a tremendous amount in my thigh and my calf. through physiotherapy,i have managed to slowly re-build the muscles. i have now reached full range of motion but however when i attempt to walk normally without any sort of limp, the knee locks, this is extremely painful. i have now gotten a phobia of walking because every time i try to do so i end up in pain from the locking.my knee is still somewhat swollen, yet it is coming down and my knee cap is starting to show more. i can also cycle perfectly without any problems
my main questions are:
1)DID MY SURGEON DO THE CORRECT JOB?(Here in Africa, who can i trust surgeons get surgery from money.
2)WILL I BE ABLE TO PLAY SOCCER AGAIN THE WAY THAT I USED TO?
3)WHAT NOW?
4)WHEN DOES MY KNEE STOP LOCKING?
5)AM I JUST BEING PARANOID?
6)WILL MY LIGAMENTS GROW BACK FROM THAT 70% t0 100% AS THE DOCTOR SAID?

ALL ANSWERS WILL BE VALUED,I’M REALLY IN NEED OF ANSWERS

THANK YOU ALL

You need to be asking these questions of your doctor as s/he is the only one who actually knows what is going on. If you are unsure about the job the surgeon did then you should find another doctor and have that one confirm that it was the correct procedure for your condition. The rest of what you are asking (being able to play soccer again, knee locking, ligaments growing back) can only be answered by your doctor - not anyone here on YA as these are all just people’s opinions.

PostHeaderIcon I have a phobia of being to hot because of an accident I had… How do I get rid of it?

I had a car accident because I passed out from the heat and went into oncoming traffic… Now I feel sick and anxious and such when ever its just a little bit too warm(note: it almost never goes above 85 here in the summer and I was fine in 110 degree weather when i went to basic in SC before the accident).

Just wondering what people usually do to get over phobias… I know the stereotypical thing is "to face your fears" but what the hell would I do, sit out in the sun for hours on end?! …And it seems to be more about humidity then straight up heat.
…I want to get rid of it because i feel like I"m gonna have a heart attack when it happens…
lol but i like saunas and my brain must not equate it to the same heat as a humid day outside bc i don’t have the same reaction

Why would you wanna get rid of it?

It’s not that bad. Honestly, heat sucks.I hate even just 90 degree weather let alone just 100 degrees.
What else are you supposed to do? If you wanna get rid of it (I have no idea why you’d wanna do such a thing) just face it. You can’t do anything else

PostHeaderIcon General Anxiety Disorder Symptoms

General Anxiety Disorder or GAD as it is known is another type of anxiety disorder. It affects roughly 4 to 5 million people of the American population alone. If you suffer from this Disorder symptoms can include but are not limited to those also suffered by panic disorder victims. It has also been found that it affects women proportionally more that it does men.

The symptoms are many and vary from person to person. There are however a few symptoms that are the same across the board for most people and which generally characterize their lives and lifestyles. The sufferer will live in a chronic and exaggerated state of worry and tension most of the time. Extreme emotions may arise even if there is nothing happening to provoke these feelings. Symptoms can also induce the sufferer to be always anticipating disaster.

One such is chronic and incessant worrying. Although worry is a natural emotion and most of us experience it from time to time in our daily lives, for the sufferer their worry is chronic and most times pathological. Most times the chronic worrier will let their worries overtake their world and will sometimes let it go so far as to incapacitate them in their daily lives.

By this, I do not mean that there is no choice over whether or not they worry ceaselessly, on the contrary the person might be aware that they are worrying needlessly but be unable to stop it or help themselves.

By the same token it can bring on insomnia, panic attacks and depression. Intense anxiety and fear are also quite common to these symptoms.

Other more physical, symptoms include headaches, diarrhea and nausea, lightheadedness, trembling or twitching. A palpitating or pounding heart, shortness of breath and trouble concentrating are also effects that can occur.

Irritability and mood swings, constant tension coupled with the inability to relax are all General Anxiety Disorder symptoms, and are all contributing features to other symptoms as well.

This vicious cycle can sometimes take its toll not only on the Disorder sufferer but also on the family of the sufferer. The pressures of living with a person who suffers from GAD, the inability to cope with the persistent and sometimes inconsequential worrying, the constant depression and mood swings can all take their toll. Most families do not survive too well if someone within the family suffers from this disorder.

That is why medical attention should be sought as soon as possible to alleviate your symptoms. General Anxiety Disorder can be cured and you should know this. Treatment methods are readily available to you and it is merely a matter of finding the courage to go out and find it. Rest assured that your doctor or therapist can help you in alleviating your symptoms properly and it will only take a little time and patience and will power on your part to cure yourself.

PostHeaderIcon When Good Markets Go Bad

The markets have nearly rebounded to the historic highs reached in 2000, but investors haven’t forgotten the emotional devastation of the tech bubble burst and its aftermath. History tells us the markets will cycle down again eventually; we just don’t know exactly when. When that downturn comes, a financial plan (the big picture), an investment strategy (how you get to the big picture) and a trusted financial advisor can make the difference between staying the course and bailing out too soon.

Not surprisingly, researchers have found that the human brain wants to be happy and will in fact bend our perceptions of reality to that end. Faced with evidence that we have made a mistake in judgment, our brain denies, rationalizes, blames and defends, because admitting mistakes damages our self esteem and makes us unhappy.

Faced with investment decisions, our brain goes looking for ways to support its quest for happiness. We envelope ourselves with information—from the media, from the stock ticker, from cocktail party conversations—and gain a sense of satisfaction that we have superior knowledge. We don’t. We have a glut of information.

That false sense of knowledge leads us to make an investment based on past performance—despite prospectus disclaimers warning us that past performance does not guarantee future gain. We buy what’s popular—because our brain tells us that many people can’t be wrong. We resist selling investments when performance indicates we should—because we don’t want to admit we were wrong. And we invest in stocks simply because we recognize the name or, worse yet, because we work for the company.

If you’ve fallen victim to these financial foibles in the past, now is the time to evaluate your financial strategy. That starts with a financial professional you can trust to be a sounding board—maybe even the voice of reason—when you start to panic about your portfolio. That trusted advisor should be helping you develop a financial plan that starts with determining your life goals, not just a target amount for your investments. Be upfront about your assets, your liabilities, your hopes and your fears so your advisor gets a comprehensive picture of what you hope to accomplish.

To implement your plan, you need an investment strategy that fits your time frame, money needs and risk tolerance. With your financial professional, determine which investment vehicles are most suitable to your profile. That includes understanding what criteria or scenario should prompt you to sell an investment, hold it or buy more.

When the inevitable happens, and the markets retreat, don’t look to the media, your friends or even the major indexes for your next move. Look to the financial plan and investment strategy you and your financial professional developed and evaluate if those should change in the current climate. Good markets will always, eventually, go bad. With preparation, planning and professional financial counsel, that doesn’t have to be true of your portfolio.

PostHeaderIcon Why I am researching, researching, and researching about writing a eBook and finally not writing it?

I have this bad habit.I keep on researching about writing a ebook.I download free ebooks,I read articles regarding the said topic, I see lots of websites regarding writing a ebook. But I keep myself so busy on researching and researching. But at the end I dont write any ebook. Is this a kind of phobia or something? I annoyed with myself and I am frustated with the flooded info that I get through web.

Hi Dear,
Everything is normal with you…nothing wrong in planning and not materializing it. A simple reason could be that you start writing and make modifications every now and then. You might want to to the best and which is why its taking you unlimited time to complete any project.
Start with a small size ebook…upload it selflessly…and you will soon get encouraged to write and complete more than expected.
No one is perfect…they are just better or worse than others comparatively.
Good luck to your new ebook.

PostHeaderIcon What would you think if Fall Out Boy ended up like Panic! At The Disco?

I’d shoot myself.

It’s a shame that Brendon (the angelic voice and decent writer) is in one band and Ryan (the writer, NOT the singer) is in the other. It’s the same thing with FOB. Patrick’s voice is unparalleled and Pete’s lyrics are brilliant; but even with a different voice, they wouldn’t be the same.

Bands annoy me. lol!

Well did you know Fall out boy doesn’t have any plans on writing a new album. Pete even said it himself he tweeted and i quote"madison square garden with Blink 182 last show in a long time." There not planning on doing music. In panic! at the disco case there writing and recording demos for their new album. And what are you talking about decent writer? Brendon is an excellent writer he started out writing songs but he never thought of himself as a writer. Im sure brendon and spenser are going to do fine without Ryan. I had the pleasure to meet Brendon on the honda civic tour hes an awesome guy with alot of talent.Besides Ryan and Jon’s new band The young veins the lyrics are okay but not Genius lyrics That alot of people think Ryan is capable of.

PostHeaderIcon Commitment Phobia?

I was getting very close with a man over the past few months knowing full well that he had commitment/relationship phobias. He was honest from the get go about it and admitted to being "scared." I told him that we could just be friends, but the more we were together the more flirty and semi-romantic he would talk. Talking about dates together, intimacy and how much we liked each other. Then as we became even closer he changed, and now no matter what I say he says that he doesn’t like having to answer to someone. The thing is that I’ve done nothing. He is acting out irrationally! Any little thing I say he makes it into something it’s not. I asked him if he wants to END things, but he doesn’t. WHAT DO I DO??

When you mean irrationally I’m guessing that you will act "normal" and he will act like you just killed his dog or something right? That’s called repression. This guy has lots of stuff from his past that he refuses to work out. You can’t make him work it out, and you can’t be happy with him until he does. I say find someone who had the courage to be the person you deserve.
