PostHeaderIcon Do you end relationship if person messed up while in fear and panic and they have stress disorder or forgive?

If this isn’t the real person at the time of the distress disorder and fear than you forgive. In a relationship you need to be there for them at their worst time. If your not than, it’s not much of a relationship. They need to know you will be there to protect them.Good Luck

PostHeaderIcon Can my heart rate during a panic attack kill me?

I’m so fed up with these things. The other day I had a panic attack and my heart rate was like 150-180. It wasn’t quite so severe of an attack, but it was bad, since I was home alone. This lasted for hours, coming in waves. When my mom got home I was a nervous wreck, shaking, hands like ice, cold sweat, breathing fast, throat tightening, jaw going numb. I finally convinced her to give me a klonipin, which she does NOT like for me to take since she’s been physically addicted to it for years. The klonipin relieved all of the symptoms within 20 minutes and I was able to go to sleep.

My main question is this:

I’ve had attacks that have sent my heart rate skyrocketing, sometimes up to 200bpm, usually for a short amount of time though. ONCE it was 225bpm but that was after I’d smoked pot (I was stupid) and my mom called an ambulance. I’ve actually had an ambulance called twice, and both times the paramedics assured me that I was okay. The last time was a month or two ago, when I had stayed up for 48 hours straight and took 3 benadryls to help me sleep. Well, that put me into such a daze that I took 2 more benadryls (125mg total) which made 2 days without sleep feel like 10. I started hallucinating slightly and freaked out really bad. My heart rate had to have been 200 for a short time. My mom called an ambulance, because she knew I needed paramedics to calm down. They got there, and I said "I don’t think the human heart can beat this fast without causing damage."
Well, one of the paramedics said, "The human heart can beat VERY fast without hurting you."

I’ve also read that it’s the rhythm that will hurt you and not the actual speed. Is this true? My rhythm is always perfect. Both times I was hooked up to an EKG, the beat was perfect, the rhythm was perfect, and they told me I was just having sinus tachycardia. My mom has also assured me of these things, since she studied cardiology for 2 years before I was born.

I’m seriously at my wits end. I went for a while without having panic attacks and now they are back! My mom had them years ago and she assures me that they can’t hurt me. She even has them once in a rare while to this day! I’m still not convinced. When my heart is beating that fast, all I can think about is a heart attack, or cardiac failure! It’s driving me crazy!

I mean, theoretically, the heart beating fast is good for it as long as it’s not drug induced right? I have NO heart problems, and my cholesterol and triglycerides are just BARELY borderline high. I’m overweight, but I’m on a diet and losing. I’m also only 16.

Can this kill me!?!?!? And will it ever go away?

*sigh*
I’m sorry. I’m just a ball of tension and I’m venting, but I would really appreciate anyone with some "external" reassurance.

God bless.
Firstly, I have minor hypothyroidism, that has been under control all my life. I take Synthroid 88MCG daily for it. Also, hypothyroid issues would cause a slow heart rate- not a fast one. I get it checked frequently and last time it was normal.

Secondly, I’m positive it’s not a heart condition. I’ve had my heart checked MANY times and it’s in good health. The ONLY time my heart races is either during and shortly after exerting myself, or during a panic attack. And as for the latter, I KNOW the panic causes it because every time it happens I get that butterfly feeling in my stomach like on a roller coaster from the adrenaline.

Lastly, after hearing so many people tell me my heart rate won’t kill me or hurt me during a panic attack has really calmed me down about it. It’s also comforting to know that other people have had this too! Wish me luck, and God bless all of you!

I have panic disorder and although I don’t usually get the racing heart, it has happened before, and was racing at over 200 beats per minute. At the time, my doctor had prescribed me some beta blockers, and this got my heart rate down. Perhaps you could ask your doctor about them? For me, they did not prevent the emotional side of the anxiety attacks, such as the fear and disorientation, but they did help physical symptoms such as shaking and fast pulse. These could help you.

There is a good book by Dr Claire Weekes called Self Help For Your Nerves. It really is a must read for anyone with anxiety, even though it’s an old book. But it is one of the best, and she talks about all the symptoms, including fast heart rate. She also seems to think it doesn’t do damage. I recommend that book.

PostHeaderIcon Taking Xanax for panic attack?

My doctor prescribed Ativan to me, but that medication is way to powerful for me, so I threw it away and ask her for something that isn’t as strong. She prescribed Xanax .25mg, which is too weak for my panic attacks. I tried taking two…which did nothing. My question is, what is a dose that isn’t as strong as Ativan, but will still stop the panic attack? I know…this is generally a question for my doctor, but I’ve been having frequent panic attacks and she won’t be in her office until Monday.

Oh, and I usually get panic attacks while trying to go to bed. When I feel my body falling asleep, I feel like I’m losing control over myself and I’ll die…I feel like I’m slowly drifting away into death. It’s crazy…then I start crying and hyperventilating and getting palpitations and nausea and ugh…then I start thinking how I’m going to die eventually and lose everyone and everything and that prolonging my life isn’t going to keep me from dying, so I might as well end it now…then I start freaking out even more that I’m going to kill myself. (I wouldn’t ever like kill myself…but yeah)
if i knew the triggers to my panic attacks, i would avoid them. unfortunatly, my panic attacks are unpreventable and unavoidable…some people just have a part of their brain that malfunctions which is why they need medication.

None of these people are actually answering your question, let me try and help.

Personally, I found .5mg of Xanax to be stronger than .5mg of Ativan. But I’m not sure what your Ativan dose was and how long you took it, so I don’t know your tolerance to benzos in general.
Typically it’s safe to take up to 1mg of Xanax at a time, especially if you are having a severe panic attack and need strong, fast relief. It may make you tired and drowsy though, so when you first try it, don’t take it if you have to work or drive. If the 1mg of Xanax still doesn’t help at all, maybe take .25mg more of Xanax every 20-30 minutes until you get relief. If you are panicking, sometimes instead of swallowing the pill, putting it under your tongue and letting it dissolve will make the effects come on faster.
The largest pill they make of Xanax is 2mg. So basically, I don’t suggest it, but if you take up to 2mg of Xanax you will be just fine. It is very hard to overdose on benzodiazepines alone so there is little to no health risk from taking up to 2mg.
Good luck.

PostHeaderIcon Why do i worry/panic about this? What’s wrong with me?

I have to get up early tomorrow (6.00am) to start work at my part time job (i’m 16). I had to do exactly the same thing yesterday. And the night before i had t get up early, i couldn’t sleep. It was all because i was panicking- i wasn’t falling asleep and i became scared i wouldn’t get enough sleep and that i wouldn’t cope at work the next day. I became scared i wouldn’t sleep all night and would then be expected to survive 8 hours of working at a bust fast food restaurant.
It was the very fact i couldn’t sleep and it was past midnight that made me panic. And in the end, it was because of the panic that i didn’t end up falling asleep till 4am. I knew that even at the time i was panicking, but that wasn’t enough to stop me.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that the panic ended up resulting in reality, and i could see how stupid i was being even while i was panicking. But i still couldn’t stop. And now i’m feeling scared to face tonight again, knowing that it will probably end up that same way as the night before last. I don’t want to feel that horrible panic sensation that won’t go away…
I’ve felt this feeling many, many times over the past 3 years or so. So many times i’ve well and truly lost count. But that doesn’t make that horrible feeling get any better when i’m experiencing it:(:(
What on earth is wrong with me???

nothing wrong my dear relax a little anxiety about your job relax it is ok you are growing up it is great you have responsability you are brave before going to bed take a warm bath or shower a little warm milk think about tomorrow as another great day you are in charge my dear great questionnnnnnnn

PostHeaderIcon i nearly choked to death now i cant eat hardly any foods or in front of people plzz help im going INSANE?

have you had similar experieces what can i do to stop it?
i’ve got to eat out wth relitives next week for 2days what am i gonna do?
i panic then forget how to swallow and end up flappin my arms around i feel like such an idiot?

You’ve had a traumatic experience with food and that’s bound to have after effects. Same as with someone who’s had a near-death automobile accident might need trauma therapy after, you could benefit from seeing a specialist who deals with food disorders.

They will help you overcome the mental barriers that your mind is putting up against food. Hypnotherapy is very helpful.

PostHeaderIcon Anxiety/Panic attacks towards end of pregnancy?

I am 38 weeks, 2 days. I have been having episodes where I feel like I absolutely cannot breathe and it freaks me out. I have to go stick my face in the freezer for the cold air. I get hot, dizzy and nauseated, and I feel like I am going to pass out. I also can’t sleep, I am running on maybe 3-4 hours of sleep, if that, a night. My heart races and it seems like my body can’t settle down. Now I am so irritable and emotional, I feel like a mess! This has been going on for quite a while, but during the past week or so, it has been so bad I feel like I am barely able to function and I just don’t know what to do! I have been on Lexapro 10mg for almost 2 months now, and I talked to my OB about my symptoms, but he told me I’d feel better after the baby. This is my 2nd pregnancy and I didn’t feel this way with my first one! I am sorry if this is jumbled or hard to understand, I am just a wreck! What can I do?

I would talk to your doctor again. I had the hot, dizzy and nauseated, and I feel like I am going to pass out feeling and it was thyroid related. Sounds maybe like your blood pressure could be out of whack too. You know what to expect since you have already been pregnant so I am led to believe it could be medical. Let your OB know it is getting worse, it is surely something you don’t need once baby has arrived.

I wish you lots of luck!

PostHeaderIcon Is the film "2012" gonna make everyone panic?

Before I go on, i must say that I don’t believe in any doomsday beliefs. I didn’t believe Y2K, I didn’t believe 2006 (the date 06/06/06), and I definitely don’t think the world will end in 2012. I will admit I am a bit skeptic, but after hearing about 2012, I actually laughed. It’s ridiculous how many times people can be wrong about the apocalypse, and yet every time a new prediction is brought to light, no one learns from the past experience.
Back in 2006, we believed that the only doomsday prediction was 06/06/06, but when we didn’t die, what did we do almost immediately after? We made ANOTHER prediction. Maybe this is mankind’s way of living, to use the fear of death as motivation to do what we want before we die. I’ll accept that, I just don’t like the way that everyone is telling me when I die, and when I disagree, they seem mad at me!!! Why, because I think positively? They don’t like to be disproven, I think this is very mentally unhealthy for us - we need freedom, not a definite deadline for our lifespan!!! Mayans have even said recently that it is unlikely, and they are mostly responsible for this worldwide rumor, so why do we persist on scaring ourselves?

Putting opinions aside, lets talk about the film. Now, Hollywood make a lot of money off of the doomsday genre. But now they want to make one based on an actual rumor - do you think this is wise? The film will have earthquakes, meteors and even tsunamis! Everyone who has heard the rumor will over-react and more people will become unstable. looking back at Y2K, there were quite a few cases of suicide when the people thought the world would end. Now that we have another date, Hollywood don’t seem to care; all they are doing is spreading the terror around more to make some more money. I don’t have a problem with it,but I’m thinking of the result as our civilization.

What do you think? Do you think that all the over-reacting people will get over it, or will everyone break mentally and we will all go crazy (lol)?

P.S. I’m not taking a shot at anyone who believes in 2012, I’m speaking about the effect the belief of this and it’s effect on us.

Congratulations on a very provocative and thought inspiring question. I am like you and do not espouse any doomsday theory. Why did the Mayans end their calendar on that particular date? Who knows. Perhaps they were just tired of looking so far into the future. Certainly, one of these days, our world will come to an end. I would lay odds that we will not even see it coming! Do you remember that crazy Alfred E. Newman character from Mad Magazine? His trademark saying was "what, me worry?". That pretty much sums up my concern for all of this nonsense.

I have to say that I did enjoy the movie for what it was, a very entertaining story about the end of the world. Something to bring a bit of enjoyment into people’s lives and certainly nothing to be concerned about.

PostHeaderIcon Dont be Overwhelmed by Internet Marketing

Hi there I know the title to this article is much easier said then done and am sure many others including myself found out the hard way.

I wrote this for the people who have just started out in the business, the people thinking about joining a business and the people have had bad experiences from the online business industry and had there fingers burned.

I started looking at internet businesses a few years ago, like alot of other people I was browsing the internet and a work at home business opportunity popped up on my screen saying join us we made 1000’s in weeks (you know the one am on about a couple on the beach or on a yacht with big cheesy grins) online simple, and I thought why not I will give it a try? DISASTER!!

I looked at a couple of opportunities before I finally decided which one I was going to join (funnily enough it was the one that popped up on my screen originally), now I am sure that I am not the only one that has experienced this, but before you join a business your upline or sponsors are calling you every 5 minutes to chat with you and let you know how amazing this opportunity is, once in a lifetime the best thing since sliced bread, then once you sign up and hand your money over thats it they vanish they are impossible to get in touch with, and the few times I did get hold of them they was about as useful as a handbrake on a canoe!

This was a time where I needed them most, myself like alot of people who join the industry I did not have a clue how to run a successful business and market it online, all the help and assistance I had been promised was quickly fading into the distance!

I was growing increasingly frustrated and decided to take action if I was going to make any money I was going to have to do it myself. At the time I thought to make money I was going to have to spend money, but in this game if you dont know what doing your money can disappear fast and to compete with the top players it costs a fortune!

Unfortunately I lost every penny I put into it ended with a lot less cash then I started with (broke as a joke) and ran away from my business with my tail between my legs.

If you dont know what your doing with this business it can come as quite a shock because there are so many things into account and its not as easy as some people make out.

There are so many ways you can run a successful business with out hardly spending anything through various free advertising, blogging, forums, article marketing the list is endless.

In this industry you have to crawl before you can walk take it one step at a time and you will get there in the end otherwise you throw all your money and your dreams down the toilet.

Your probably thinking why I did keep on plugging away at the work from home industry chasing the impossible dream, to be honest I couldnt answer that maybe am crazy am sure my girlfriend thinks so! After a few more failed attempts I was ready to throw in the towel I had been left battered and bruised enough times when I stumbled on my next venture with

My Internet Business

. It stood out to me, but I still had my demons in the back of my head saying its got to be to good to be true, because I had my doubts I was invited on an information call and all my questions were answered I had finally found an online business that was ran efficiently. Once I joined not only did I have regular contact with sponsor but a wealth of video’s and tutorials going into detail of all marketing techniques and skills needed to run a successful business that I could go through at my own pace!

I finally got there in the end and I know for alot of people it feels like your pushing a rock up a mountain sometimes, but dont be overwhelmed by everything keep your feet on the ground dont panic and take one step at a time. For anyone interested in following in my footsteps I would recommend My Internet Business to anyone it really is everything its says it is.

PostHeaderIcon Medication for Acid Reflux - Finding the Best Ways to Treat Acid Reflux

For sufferers of acid reflux, learning how to treat it is vital. Medication for acid reflux is important to be able to deal with it and to continue with a normal life that isn’t controlled by the condition.

There are some medicines that you can get that are only prescribed by your doctor and some that you get for a price over the counter from a pharmacy. There are plenty of options that you can watch out for and finding the best medication for acid reflux for you is easy if you know how.

There are three types of drugs that you can get to treat your condition - H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors (PPI) or promolity agents, all of which have their own ways of remedying the acid reflux in their own ways.

Some of these can be bought from a pharmacy and some will need a prescription and one of the best ways in which you can work out the types that will be perfect for you is to visit your doctor or physician and see which ones they recommend.

H2 inhibitors are generally obtained from a pharmacy and are perfect for those that are looking for medication for acid reflux that is only on a minor or moderate scale. For those that are suffering quite considerably however, PPI’s or proton pump inhibitors may be the right medication for acid reflux.

These will need to be prescribed from your doctor and can have side effects and because of this, there will need to be regular check ups to ensure that the medication is working and also that you are not suffering from other affects that are not necessary.

It can sometimes take a little bit of time and changing of medication to treat the acid reflux but in the end, the patient will get and find a way to deal with the condition and return to normality.

Medication for acid reflux is important to ensure that the sufferer is not in pain when they do not need to be. The symptoms are very often described as a burning sensation and this can cause a great deal of pain when the problem is not resolved.

It has the ability to quite literally stop people in their tracks and prevent them from operating and going about their normal day as if they normally would. For some people, the acid moving up the oesophagus can interfere with their breathing due to the irritation and this by itself is actually rather dangerous and panic provoking for anyone that has to deal with it.

There is a valve at the bottom of the oesophagus which is meant to prevent the acid from travelling to places that it shouldn’t but for those that are suffering from acid reflux, it is not working in all the right ways that it is meant to. This is where the medication for acid reflux comes in and can stop the acid from moving where it is not wanted and therefore reducing the heartburn sensation.

PostHeaderIcon Punta Cana and Dominican Republic Real Estate - What to Expect in 2009!

December 2005 was a different time in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. At that time, the Punta Cana and Dominican Republic real estate markets were experiencing what some would consider atypical growth.

Demand was far greater than the supply, a thriving influx of international buyers, lowest interest rates in the history of the Dominican real estate market, both US dollars and Dominican pesos, national and international economic stability, high rental income, mega tourism developments sprouting like wild flowers, international financing, bonds were issued, free favorable press, and tourism numbers at an all time high. Buyers were looking for anyone developing or selling near the tourism hubs of the island.

Those were the good ol’ times! It was about being in the right place at the right time.

Many considered that there was no reason for the Punta Cana and Dominican Republic not to be known as the “Home of the World”; however, it was also emphasized that it was imperative for the real estate industry to take some necessary measures in order for development to continue in an organized fashion.

Fast forward to the end 2008. Today, the real estate industry is also experiencing a completely atypical situation, which unfortunately can’t be called positive, but can’t be called negative either. It is going back to what is considered a normal, standardized real estate market. Supply and demand more in balance than in years past.

Any real estate developer can tell you that it is not normal to sell an entire development in less than a year. Normal would be for at least two years to sell a small to medium size development and perhaps more time on the larger more ambitious developments within closed gated communities. Of course, it is normal to think that things are cooling off after coming out of the “BOOM” we have been experiencing for the past few years. Instead of cooling off, I would call it business as usual, going back to normal, supply and demand in equilibrium!

At the moment it is important to sit down and analyze the “foundation” of our market as we take the necessary corrective measures based on lessons learned.

First, let’s look at the foundation. Why the Dominican Republic? Why Punta Cana? What makes us so special? Why are Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic relevant investment markets? Why alternatives for second home buyers? Why should it be considered ideal places for retirement?

  • Excellent geographical location that allows us to have year round tropical climate. The cold countries remain cool.

  • We continue to have some of the best white sand beaches and turquoise colored crystal clear waters

  • Legal Framework – No Restricitions for Foreigners, Equal Ownership Rights

  • Economic Stability

  • Social Stability

  • Personal Safety, Dominican Republic crime rates are low in comparison to other Caribbean Neighbors

  • Modern and adequate transportation and telecommunications infrastructure (airports, seaports, highways, telephone, internet). There is room for improvement, but we are headed in the right direction.

  • Extensive complementary offer (water sports, golf, restaurants, grocery stores, resorts, casinos)

  • Ecotourism

  • The Dominican People – Always friendly and hospitable!

Beyond these points, we must recognize that there has been encouragement for foreign investment by the local government. Foreign direct investment more than doubled in 2008, according to statistics from the Center for Exports and Investment (CEI-RD). Investment in 2008 totaled US$2.35 billion, for a 55.1% growth from 2007.

Just last week, December 12, 2008, Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez broke ground for US$1.4 billion dollars VistaCana Resort & Country Club in Punta Cana. President Fernandez and the project’s main promoter, Salvador Termín headed the groundbreaking ceremony, with Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia also present. Mr. Termin spoke about the world crisis we are experiencing, and emphasized that they have prepared themselves for the crisis. “We have decided to continue to invest, since that is what we do. We believe in the Dominican Republic since it continues to be a safe place to invest with lower risks in comparison to other places around the world”.

Venezuelan investors began construction of the tourist complex on six million square meters of land. The complex will have 6,000 residences, a 100 room business hotel, a 27-hole golf course and a 180,000 square meter artificial lake integrated to the beach area, and built at a cost of arond US$1.4 billion dollars. This will bring 20,000 new jobs to Punta Cana when concluded.

President Fernandez said “this development is proof that within the global crisis that we live today, foreign companies like the developers of VistaCana, testify that the Dominican Republic still has economic and financial security for world wide investors, developers and end users alike. 1,500 homes have been purchased by an investment fund for North Americans retirees out of Washington D.C. plus more than 200 units sold to individuals.” President Fernandez added that in addition to VistaCana, just last week he was in La Romana for the groundbreaking event for the mega development Playa Nueva La Romana by Spain’s Grupo Piñero, owners of the Gran Bahia Principe Resorts. This represents US$2.5 billion dollars in foreign investment. In addition, in the coming days, President Fernandez will be alongside the Prince of Monaco, in the groundbreaking ceremony for Punta Perla located in Cabeza de Toro near Punta Cana, with another US$1.6 billion dollars in foreign investment from the U.K.

That is a total of US$5.5 billion dollars of foreign investment in the month of December alone for the real estate industry. These are big numbers from world wide known companies and investors that have very deep pockets to conduct feasibility and market studies. They have decided that the Dominican Republic is the safest place with the best investment opportunities in the Caribbean and perhaps the western hemisphere.

In addition to encouraging foreign investment, local government has achieved:

  • Enactment of new laws that attract retirees and baby boomers. Incentive for pensioners and annuitants

  • Reduction of taxes related to real estate

  • Firm decision to improve communication infrastructure to the tourist areas

  • Efficient and better system for the approval of new developments

  • Public sector working hand in hand with private sector to help develop joint activities aimed at strengthening the real estate industry.

We can say that without a doubt we have a solid foundation for sustained growth in the real estate industry; however, no longer is location, location, location the most important part of deciding where to buy real estate in the Dominican Republic. Investors and buyers alike are looking for security, security, security.

First and foremost, the security and safety of their investment. Investors and buyers understand that property acquired in the Dominican Republic is not going to suffer the effects of devaluation that other world markets have experienced. This is for several reasons:

  • Historically in the Dominican Republic property values have always tended to go up and never down

  • The Dominican Republic does not have a secondary market for the marketing of securities where good and bad mortgages come together. We all now about the USA mortgage mess that has property values on a downward spiral.

  • Given our past experience with the banking system, the mortgages could be considered “healthy”, meaning that the market value of the property exceeds the value of mortgage.

Second, security of ownership rights, of course. Foreign buyers are guaranteed the same rights as those available to Dominican buyers.

Third, security of return on your investment. Real estate-tourism products have the potential to generate revenue because they can be rented to employees in the tourism sector and also because each day is further developed the so-called “residential tourism.” Refers to those tourists who prefer to rent a villa or apartment to take a more familiar experience and learn more about the area of access.

What do we need to do as industry leaders and real estate professionals?

  • Find end users: Avoid clients who seek an immediate capital gain. This refers to buyers/flippers who have neither the intention nor the ability to close on the real estate transaction. The best way is to ask for a significant down payment that the buyer/flipper will lose if decides to walk away from the real estate transaction.

  • Pre Qualify Buyers: Provide the buyers with the proper forms and contac information for pre qualification with local banks. This will prevent from future headaches in the future.

  • Perform target marketing plans for buyers and investors required for the particular development.

  • Carry out strategic alliances with government institutions to promote the Dominican Republic as a tourist destination, not just a real estate destination.

  • Join forces with high profile tourism developments for further commercialization of the Dominican Republic.

  • Be aggressive in marketing products in more than one way: create alliances with international real estate agencies, non traditional advertising, speaking engagements, eMarketing, and so on.

The most important thing is to understand that we have a good product. We are in a cycle of the market where change is inevitable and considered normal. There is no need to panic. Punta Cana and the Domincan Republic have become world destinations. We still have many great years of selling Punta Cana real estate and Dominican Republic real estate. We just need to roll up our sleeves, continue to work with ethics, be honest, creative and pro-active. We have no doubt, sooner or later Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic are destined to become the HOME OF THE WORLD!

We expect many good things to come in 2009 and are very positive that we will make a difference and separate ourselves from the rest of the crowd.  With the alliances that we are forming with real estate agencies from around the world, we will definitely position ourselves as the #1 real estate company for developers, buyers, sellers and investors that are looking for the right company to assist with buying or selling real estate in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. Hope we can be of assitance in 2009!  We will help you find the right home in Paradise!
