I seriously think I have ocd… I used to excessively wash my hands (they became red and chapped), and now I count and organize things.

ocd things I do:
count random things. (colors in a room, colors on people’s clothes, lines dividing lanes on the road, windows on a building, etc. it has to be an even number in the end or I count again.)
Organize little things such as: things on my desk, books on my bookshelf (from smallest to largest), I put things in alphabetical order, etc.
I clean off my eraser. I’m so frickin serious. Like if it has a mark on it from erasing, I erase on something clean to remove the mark.

I do about more things, but too many to list.

Unless you have horrible anxiety (that takes up an hour of your day everyday) with these quirks, you don’t have OCD. OCD is a real disorder and is a lot different then quirks.

I have been diagnosed with OCD and so here it is:
Obsessions:
FEARING DEATH- that’s the big one because it causes all my compulsions
fearing that I’m going to hurt someone
and also you know how some people have numbers with OCD well I have letters. Letters non stop go though my mind. It may not sound bad but it’s horrible. It go so bad that my doctor had to put me on medicine.

Compulsions:
washing my hands about 20 times a day
holding my breath in ‘contaminated’ areas
having to touch objects just right
having to place objects just right
constantly erasing words because they ‘don’t look right’
only stepping on certain ‘good’ spaces on the floor
things have to be symmetrical (get hit in one arm have to hit myself in the other)
no sharing food or drinks. period.
doors have to be all the way open or all the way closed

Math anxiety is fairly common, and can be overcome without too much difficulty as long as it is not symptomatic of some greater underlying anxiety disorder.

Part of the problem is that unlike most other disciplines, a math answer is either correct or incorrect. There is rarely more than one way to solve a problem, and just a rarely more than one correct answer. There just aren’t very many areas where there are a range of correct answers. The precision required can intimidate and be difficult for even otherwise exceptional students. If your child has math anxiety, there are things that both you as parents and your child can do to help.

1. Get help early: If you are experiencing math anxiety, the best thing you can do is seek out help. Tell your parents and your teachers. Sometimes, with a little additional tutoring, you can overcome your anxiety before it becomes an issue during a test.

2. Take practice tests: If you are having difficulties at test time, have your teacher give you practice tests. Knowing ahead of time that you are capable of passing the test can go a long ways towards relieving your math anxiety.

3. Avoid cramming: Don’t wait until the night before to try and learn the last months worth of math. Not being absolutely sure of yourself and your knowledge of the subject being tested can easily trigger your math anxiety. You must KNOW before you test that you can pass the test.

4. Meditation and relaxation techniques: Just as with other forms of anxiety, taking the time to meditate or perform other relaxation routines before the test can help a lot. If you don’t go into the test jittery and anxious, you are far less likely to have a math anxiety attack. Go in relaxed and confident, and that test will be a breeze.

Generally, child anxiety is treated the same way as adult anxiety: with medication and therapy. Your doctor will be able to prescribe medications that will help control your child’s anxiety attacks. The therapy will help them to overcome the fears that are at the root of the child anxiety attacks.

At home, try and keep your child’s life as stress-free as possible. Don’t be overbearing or put too much pressure on them to be perfect. Don’t argue with your husband or wife where they can hear you. Stress from a bad home life can really take its toll on a child’s mind. Rather, make sure they feel loved and secure, and that they know they will always be loved even if they don’t get that “A”. You’ll find that reducing the stress your child feels can help their recovery quite a bit.

It was in this album that Black Eyed Peas anxiety song is included, as well. Unfortunately, anxiety does not have a music that is why it’s not as popular compared to the other hit singles in the album. But, Black Eyed Peas anxiety is a very good song. In fact, it has given 4 stars rating from those who have listened to song.

The album Elephunk won worldwide success and went gold and platinum in the US, UK, Germany, and other European Countries. Although, Black Eyed Peas anxiety single is not as successful as the other songs in the album, the meaning that they want to convey to the audience is that how serious anxiety condition can be and how it can affect your life in all aspect. Of course not.

But sometimes, even though we know this, we just don’t find it easy to come to terms with and to accept who we are.

Inside each of us there is a good, positive human being. Why not try a gentler, kinder approach to yourself?

Remind yourself of all your positive qualities. Focus on what you have, not on what you do not have. You might be surprised at how much you have going for you.

2. Talk About It

Don’t be afraid to talk to someone about what you’re going through and what you’re feeling. Choose a good friend or trusted family member and sit down for a chat.

If you really cannot think of anyone and you’re feeling desperate then the Samaritans are a wonderful source of support.

There really is little point in running over the same things time and time again if you are not prepared to actually do something about those things.

There is a saying in therapy circles: ‘If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got’.

As you talk things over, try your best to see what needs to be changed in order for things to be different. A good friend, therapist or counselor can be truly helpful in getting things back into perspective so that you can move on past the anxiety and stress.

3. Put Yourself First

Try something new.

Yes, perhaps it does feel like everyone wants a piece of you. But so do you. And unless you invest time in yourself then you won’t have much to give to anyone else.

Maybe it’s time to get a little bit more selfish. After all, you really are worth it!

Why not learn a new skill?

Learning something new stimulates your mind and really does increase your confidence. Self-hypnosis, meditation, tai chi, yoga, for example, are all fascinating and can bring you into contact with new people, providing a fresh perspective on life.

You don’t need to learn new skills in a group setting, of course. You can buy a recording or a book. And your library has many books that will enable you to get a real grasp on many new skills and interests.

Make these 3 basic changes in your life and watch how thing change and become so much more manageable.

Invest in yourself and that investment will pay real dividends!

Let it go without fear or anxiety and leave it to the Cosmos to deliver your request in the best possible way and at the best possible time for you. You can forget your order because it is now in the hands of the Cosmos, but you must not forget the commitment you have made to yourself.

PostHeaderIcon Anyone know a quick way to cure anxiety attacks?

I didn’t use to get them, but it’s coming up on finals, and I have an insane amount of work, and can’t afford to get less than an A on any of it. Every time I need to focus, and get a lot done, I get into this state where I start freaking out, I can’t concentrate, I keep starting one thing and the dropping it and rushing to start another, then I panic, can’t do anything, start just shivering, and want to give up and run away. Yesterday I started crying in my voice lesson for no good reason; it was embarrassing, and I don’t know what to do. Once I get into this state I can’t get anything done and that just wastes more time; the only thing I know to do is go to sleep for at least an hour, which is easy since I’m always behind on sleep, but I need a more practical way of dealing with it. And by the way, I’m not usually an emotional person. Thanks to anyone who helps!

Agree with the xanax, however, it’s not always an option.

Here’s the deal…

Finals will mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Nothing! Period! My suggestions is that you sit down, take the test and tell yourself that this will have absolutely no impact whatsoever regardless of what I or others believe.

Now, whether it’s true or not, that means nothing to you…just take the silly thing and get out of there. You know what you know and you can only cram so much of that crap into your head before you start being counter-productive.

Anxiety disorder can cause you to be filled with fearfulness and ambiguity which maybe felt briefly only. However some anxiety disorder last at least 6 months and has the tendency to get worse if not treated immediately. Anxiety disorders usually occur along with other psychological or physical sickness, including alcohol or drug abuse, which can actually worsen the situation.

If you think you have anxiety disorder, don’t hesitate to seek information about it and find treatment right away before it gets into you. There are effective therapies out there and recent research reveals new treatments that can help most people with this condition lead fruitful and fulfilling lives.

There are five major types of anxiety disorders; general anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panics disorder, posttraumatic disorder (PST), specific phobias, and social phobia or social anxiety disorder. Anxiety attack symptoms are what we typically experience if we feel sudden danger is going to happen.

Anxiety attack can be a very terrifying experience. It is a period of sudden and intense fear or discomfort, typically with an abrupt onset and usually lasting for no more than 10 minutes. Sometimes a person can experience a panic attack all of a sudden without particular reason. Most people that experience one attack will usually experience another attack, and those who have recurring attacks, or feel severe anxiety about having another are said to have panic disorder.

Various individuals report different symptoms during an anxiety attack. Some of the common anxiety attack symptoms are:

Palpitations, a pounding of heart, or an accelerated heart rate

Increased sweating

Trembling or shaking

Shortness of breath

Chest pain or discomfort

Nausea or stomach discomfort

A feeling light-headedness, or faint

A feeling of unreality

Depersonalization or a feeling of being detached from oneself

Fear of losing control or going crazy

Fear of dying

Numbness, or a tingling sensation

Chills

Feeling of impending doom

Cases of the possible situations where anxiety attack can occur are: when driving, on an airplane, crowded areas, or during sleep at night. Sometimes anxiety attack occurs in a situation where the person cannot exit easily from a social gathering, or in a meeting, but others may experience an incident of anxiety for no reason while in comfortable place or even in sleep.  Anxiety attack symptoms are more or less the same feelings we might experience if we feel danger is about to happen. They are signs of how we usually react if we are triggered by fear, worry, and concern. But, chill out! Fortunately, anxiety attack is not an illness.
